BIOGRAPHY
By day, I am a cancer researcher, studying the dynamic changes that occur within the tumor microenvironment. Originally from Greece, I’ve been drawn to science and art from a young age, being taught from both of my parents. My artistic nature though became dormant for a number of years. It was not until towards the end of my PhD that I reverted to art again and re-invented it in ways that were completely new to me.
I took lessons in acrylic painting, mixed media, charcoal, pastel, watercolours, batik, jewellery making, polymer clay, collage to name a few. Initially, I copied paintings that I liked or painted themes from photographs that were speaking to my soul. I drew inspiration from sea, ships, biology, botany, geology, still life and portraiture and gradually moved to abstraction. I like to explore new techniques and media and experiment both in the lab and on canvas. When I am not in the lab, I like to channel my emotions, experiences and creativity through painting.
